About Jenny

Jenny Thirtle has been teaching the Alexander Technique for over 25 years. She works with people dealing with persistent pain and with musicians, from committed amateurs to professionals performing at the highest level.

She came to this work as a performer herself. As a professional opera singer and multi-instrumentalist, she understands the demands musicians face from the inside – the physical pressures, the performance anxiety, and what it actually takes to play or sing at your best. That experience shapes everything about how she works.

Her musician clients include professional opera singers, music theatre and ensemble performers, orchestral players, including members of major orchestras, and musicians across many other traditions.

Jenny has taught Alexander Technique to music students at the Victorian College of the Arts and runs workshops for the Melba Opera Trust. She has also delivered workshops and workshop series for schools and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). For over 20 years she has run a weekly voice and performance day at the School for F.M. Alexander Studies, Melbourne’s only Alexander Technique teacher training course, where she is also an AUSAT Approved Teacher Trainer.

Jenny is based in Windsor/Prahran in Melbourne and runs workshops in Victoria, interstate, and overseas.
